About SoGreen

Background and objectives

SoGreen is a cross-European collaboration that brings together Europe’s four leading social science infrastructures — SHARE-ERIC, ESS ERIC, GUIDE, and GGP — to better understand how different generations and socioeconomic groups experience and respond to green transition policies, across time.

Using a life-course perspective, SoGreen integrates new questionnaire modules, spatial indicators, and innovative tools across the coordinated surveys.

The project introduces a harmonised Green Transition Questionnaire Module (Green Module) across surveys, enabling the collection of comparable, high-quality data on behaviours, perceptions, and social impacts of climate and environmental change. SoGreen applies a life-course and multi-generational perspective, with targeted modules for youth, working-age adults, and older populations.

A key innovation is the integration of spatial and contextual environmental data, allowing for the linkage of geocoded survey data with regional indicators on climate vulnerability, pollution, and infrastructure. This enables SoGreen to analyse how environmental risks and policy responses vary by place, socioeconomic status, and demographic group.

The 36 month-long project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon INFRATECH programme.
